What does The University of Law stand for?

The University of Law (ULaw) is a private university in the United Kingdom and specializes in legal education. It was developed in 1962 from the merging of the tutorial firm Gibson & Weldon and the Society School of Law; the university was then known as The College of Law. It earned its university title in 2012. At present, ULaw has 15 campuses, including one in Hong Kong.

ULaw prides itself on providing students the avenue of learning in a realistic, professional, and contemporary context that includes practical and interactive engagement. Professors and lecturers are hands-on and handle small groups of students. Aside from law programs, the school also offers degree programs in business. Students can also avail of the university's online courses that give interested students more flexibility in doing their studies.

The University of Law has a wide variety of industry partners including The Law Society, The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, The Bar Council, and The Bar Standards Board. The university also works with other schools, like the GISMA Business School, the Webster Vienna Private University, and the University of Exeter.

The University of Law facts:

  • The university was the first independent institution to be allowed degree awarding powers.
  • A Careers and Employability Service is available to provide students the advantage of being employed. Through this initiative, students acquire experience by working with actual clients in the community.
  • The university library won the Lexist Library Award for Best legal Information Service (Commerical Sector) in 2013.
