What does St. Theresa's College of Cebu stand for?

St. Theresa’s College (STC) of Cebu, is a private Catholic school in Cebu City. It was founded in 1933 by the Missionary Canonesses of St. Augustine, now Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (ICM). The establishment of STC was in response to the Church’s mission of evangelization, upon the invitation of His Excellency Msgr. Gabriel Reyes, then Archbishop of Cebu. The foundress, Mother Marie Louise de Meester traveled from Belgium to India and later to the Philippines where she established several schools mostly for the girls in the northern part of Luzon and later in the Visayas, particularly in Cebu.

STC of Cebu currently offers programs from preschool to college. Its basic education department includes a Senior High School (SHS) program with curricula for the ABM, HUMSS, and STEM strands. Additionally, STC has a SPED Center along Don Ramon Aboitiz Street that offers programs categorized as Lower Primary (for six- to nine-year-olds), Upper Primary (for 10- to 12-year-olds), and Life Skills and Transition (for 13-year-olds and up). College students, on the other hand, can avail of the various undergraduate courses in Teacher Education, Accountancy, Business Administration, Communication, Psychology, and Social Work.

St. Theresa’s College of Cebu and its programs are duly recognized by the Department of Education (DepEd) and by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). A number of its programs also have accreditations from the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU); the Grade School and High School departments have Level III accreditation statuses while the Bachelor of Arts and Business programs have Level II accreditation statuses.
