Becoming a doctor was not part of my dream at first for I know it will not be easy for me and my family. It was in my 3rd year of PreMed studies when my mentors in SWU PHINMA inspired me not just to study medicine but also appreciate the process of learning. From then on I have developed the great sense of affection for medical study. I have transformed into someone I never thought I could be. I learned to do more, give more and strive more. Southwestern University PHINMA (SWU PHINMA) was established in 1946. The university is considered as one of the leader in medical and allied health programs. SWU PHINMA was acquired by PHINMA Education in 2015 and continuous to build on its expertise and extends these new program offerings.

The school aims to enable students to become the best that they can by providing practice-focused, relevant, hands-on learning and creating an empowering and vibrant student life and community. It is located in Urgello St., Cebu City, Philippines.

With PHINMA Education acquisition, SWU PHINMA's affiliate, Sacred Heart Hospital became Southwestern University Medical Center (SWUMC). SWUMC complements the SWU PHINMA School of Medicine, College of Nursing and other health and allied science departments in developing globally competitive physicians and allied medical practitioners.

Southwestern University PHINMA facts:

SWU PHINMA, the first medical school in Visayas and Mindanao,produces 3 topnotchers and 26 licensed doctors in the 2020 Physician Licensure Examination.
In the 2019 Nursing board examination, more SWU PHINMA graduates were added to the competent professionals with its 100% passing rate for first time takers.
We have proven our academic excellence and quality education in the 2019 Board Performances. Occupational Therapy has 100% passing rate, Optometry has 90% passing rate and Medical Technology has 90% passing rate. The SWU PHINMA College of Optometry was acclaimed as the Top 2 Performing Optometry School in 2019.
The moniker of SWU PHINMA is a Cobra and athletes have shown not just prowess in the court but also the potential of becoming the best that they can be. In the 2019 CESAFI Tournament, we won the 2019 Champions in Basketball, 2019 Champions in Volleyball Men, 2019 1st Runner up in Volleyball Women, and 2019 Champions in Badminton.
