What does Philippine Christian University stand for?

Philippine Christian University (PCU) is a private co-educational Christian university located along Taft Avenue, Manila. Established in 1946, it was formerly known as the Manila Union University and later on the Philippine Christian College (PCC) up until 1976, when was elevated to its university status. To date, the university has two other campuses: PCU Mary Johnston College of Nursing (Tondo) and PCU Dasmariñas (Cavite).

Philippine Christian University offers both basic (preschool to senior high school) and higher education along with programs for professional advancements, such as the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP), the Accelerated Learning Program, Continuing Education for OFW Professionals, and Licensure Examination Reviews. PCU has also done extensive research and development focused on social issues.

The undergraduate level is divided into 8 colleges, namely the College of Arts, Sciences, and Social Work, the College of Business Administration and Accountancy, the College of Education and Applied Programs, the College of Engineering and Information Technology, College of Tourism and Hospitality Studies, the College of Nursing and Allied Health, the College of Religious Studies, and the College of Law (LLB).

Philippine Christian University has several awards and accreditations given by the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges, and Universities (ACSCU). Some of these accreditations are Level III Accreditation for Master in Business Administration, Master in Management, BS Business Administration, BS Nursing, and BS Education (BSEd). PCU also received its ISO certification in 2008.

  • Philippine Christian University is one of the two main Protestant schools in Metro Manila. The school is affiliated with the United Church of Christ in the Philippines and the United Methodist Church.
  • Some of PCU’s notable alumni are basketball players Gabby Espinas, Jayson Castro and Beau Belga, singer Lani Misalucha, and actor/director Ronnie Rickets.
  • The university's official athletic team, PCU Dolphins, are currently playing at the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU).
