What is Senior High School?

In 2011, the Department of Education has made the historic implementation of shifting from the 10-year basic education curriculum to the Kinder to 12 Program (K-12) in phases. The added two-year Senior High Track aims to equip you with knowledge and skills that will help you prepare better for your chosen path -- be it higher education, employment, or entrepreneurship.

Senior High School (SHS) is the last two years of the K to 12 program that includes Grades 11 and 12.

  • Does this mean I will spend two more years in High School?

    Yes. But these two additional years will equip you with skills that will better prepare you for the future, whether it be; Kolehiyo, Trabaho or Negosyo!

  • Does this mean two more year of added tuition?

    For students who are inclined towards or have the aptitude for Math or Science or Engineering studies.

  • What is the Voucher Program?

  • Will Senior High School ensure my employment?

    Senior High Schools does not guarantee employment but it does open up a lot of opportunities for you like:

    • Apply to TESDA Certificate of Competency (COCs) and National Certificates (NCs) for better work opportunities.
    • You will take entrepreneurship courses to equip you with basic business management knowledge and skills should you choose to go into business after Senior High.
    • Partnerships with different companies are also offered for technical and vocational courses.
    • Further your education by going into college. The subjects you take in SHS will help you a lot in college too.
